About this event

Cairo Water Week is the international water conference run each year by Egypt's Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation. The ninth edition, in 2026, runs under the theme "Water as a Catalyst for: Peace, Shared Prosperity, and a Sustainable Planet" and brings ministers, river-basin authorities, international organisations, researchers, utilities and private companies together in New Cairo for five days of plenaries, technical sessions, competitions and side meetings.

2026 themes

The programme and the call for abstracts are organised around five themes that link water policy with technology and finance.

  • Managing shared water resources under international water law for peace and regional stability
  • Securing agri-food systems through desalination and wastewater treatment
  • Enhancing climate resilience through sustainable water resources and coastal zone management
  • Harnessing AI and the digital wave for water resources sustainability
  • Addressing water challenges through technical tools, social frameworks, financing and national water governance

Parallel events

Several events run alongside the week. The 7th Arab Water Conference (AWC 2026) is held in parallel, and the International Water, Waste & Infrastructure exhibition and conference (IWWI 2026) runs at the same time as the industry showcase. Conveners can host their own sessions, and a meeting room is available for side meetings.
