About this event
The Internistenkongress of the German Society of Internal Medicine (DGIM) is the traditional annual meeting of internal medicine in Wiesbaden. The 133rd congress, presided over by Prof. Dr. med. Ursula Müller-Werdan of the Charité's Department of Geriatrics, runs under the motto "Gesund älter werden" (healthy ageing) and brings internists from every subspecialty together for an interdisciplinary exchange on keeping and regaining health across the lifespan.
Focus topics for 2027
The scientific programme is built around three themes linked to an ageing society and the growing number of multimorbid patients.
- Biological ageing as the basis of age-related diseases, including psychosocial, environmental and ethical aspects
- Primary, secondary and tertiary prevention of age-related diseases and functional limitations
- How treatment of internal diseases changes with age: evidence, guidelines, "Klug entscheiden" and managing multimorbidity
Congress formats
Alongside main sessions on the focus topics, the programme mixes formats aimed at both clinicians and researchers, and the congress is submitted to the Hessen state medical chamber for CME certification.
- Main sessions, Highlights and Updates with new evidence for practice
- Interdisciplinary clinical symposia and pro and contra debates
- Refresher internal medicine courses, tutorials and interactive case discussions
- Hands-on DGIM training courses (limited places)
- DGIM Futur, the forum for digital medicine, AI, DiGAs and wearables
- Forum Universitätsmedizin, Forum Junge DGIM, poster prizes and Young Investigator Award
- Industry exhibition
Who attends
The congress is aimed at internists in hospitals and practices, clinician scientists, medical students and doctors in training.
