IPM ESSEN 2027

IPM ESSEN is the world's leading trade fair for horticulture and the annual start-of-season meeting place for the green sector. Growers, nurseries, florists, garden centres, landscapers and buyers from across Europe come to Messe Essen to see new plant varieties, horticultural technology and retail concepts, with climate change and sustainability as the defining themes.

Exhibition areas

The fair is organised into four product areas, so trade visitors can work through the whole value chain from young plants to the point of sale.

• Plants: cut flowers, pot and bedding plants, nursery stock, young plants, seeds and vegetables
• Technology: greenhouse construction, heating, irrigation, substrates, plant protection, nursery and production technology
• Floristry: florists' requisites, decorations, candles, plant pots and dried flowers
• Garden features: garden equipment and decorations, outdoor pots, vertical gardens, shop fittings and software

Supporting programme

Alongside the halls, IPM ESSEN runs a programme of themed showcases and talks for the trade, including the IPM Flower Stage, the Gardeners Forum, the Innovation Centre Horticulture Technology, the Horticulture Infocenter, the IPM Discovery Center and a meeting point for climate trees and perennials. Awards for new plant varieties and the spring edition of the Landgard order days are also held during the fair.

The 2026 edition brought together 1,476 exhibitors from 41 nations and more than 40,000 trade visitors, making it the largest gathering of the international horticulture industry. IPM also has sister events in China, Mexico and Turkey (Growtech Antalya).
