Energy and environment events in the UAE: where to focus in 2026–27

The UAE's energy and environment season runs from October to January, and almost every major event happens in one of two venues: ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi or Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). October belongs to Dubai's water, power and green-economy week. November belongs to ADIPEC in Abu Dhabi. December brings the UN Water Conference to Abu Dhabi. January brings Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, the largest gathering of the season. May adds Middle East Energy in Dubai and the World Utilities Congress in Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi hosts the government-backed events: ADIPEC, Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (hosted by Masdar since 2008) and the UN Water Conference. Dubai hosts the commercial trade shows, many backed by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).

Five events carry most of the season: ADIPEC, WETEX with the World Green Economy Summit, Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week with the World Future Energy Summit, Middle East Energy and the World Utilities Congress. The right one depends on who you need to meet, not on the theme printed on the banner.

Oil, gas and the wider energy industry

ADIPEC 2026 runs 2–5 November 2026 at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. It is the largest event of the UAE energy year. For its 2026 edition the organizer advertises a stage for more than 2,250 exhibitors, and a conference of 13 programmes and more than 380 sessions. Its programme now covers decarbonisation, LNG, AI and energy security alongside oil and gas. Traders have a smaller room: Energy Trading Week Middle East 2027 runs 1–2 September 2027 at the JW Marriott Hotel Marina in Dubai, run by Commodities People.

Water, power and utilities

WETEX 2026 is DEWA's annual water, energy, technology and environment exhibition. The 2026 show is its 28th edition and runs 20–22 October at DWTC. The World Green Economy Summit 2026 runs 21–22 October in DWTC's Sheikh Rashid Hall during the same week. It is organised by the World Green Economy Organization, DEWA and the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, and it has run every year since 2014. One trip to Dubai covers both.

The 2026 UN Water Conference runs 8–10 December 2026 at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, co-hosted by the UAE and Senegal. Its official Blue Zone needs UN accreditation; The Oasis, hosted by the UAE, is open to registered attendees. In May 2027, Middle East Energy 2027 (11–13 May, Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City) is the power-equipment trade show, and World Utilities Congress 2027 (25–27 May, ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, hosted by TAQA) pairs a utilities conference with an exhibition.

Clean energy, climate and sustainability

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2027 runs 10–14 January 2027 in Abu Dhabi. It is a week of linked events rather than one conference: the ADSW Summit, the IRENA Assembly, the Zayed Sustainability Prize and the World Future Energy Summit 2027, which is the week's largest event. ADSW reports that its 2026 edition drew more than 60,000 attendees.

Electric mobility, buildings and cities

EV World 2026 fills DWTC on 10–12 November 2026. Late November adds HVACR World 2026 and Big 5 Global 2026 (23–26 November) and the one-day LiveableCitiesX Summit 2026 on 24 November. Light + Intelligent Building Middle East 2027 (12–14 January 2027) covers lighting and building automation in the same week as Abu Dhabi's clean-energy events. Mining suppliers have The Mining Show 2026 on 16–17 November 2026.

Go to an exhibition to find suppliers, buyers and partners. Go to a conference or summit to hear policy direction and meet the people who set it. Most flagship UAE energy events combine both, so the real question is which part of the event your pass covers.

• Trade exhibitions (WETEX, the World Future Energy Summit exhibition, EV World, HVACR World, Middle East Energy) are built around a show floor. They suit suppliers looking for utility, developer and contractor buyers, and buyers comparing products.
• Summits and forums (the World Green Economy Summit, the ADSW Summit, the UN Water Conference, Energy Trading Week) are built around a programme. They suit people who work on policy, finance, strategy and reporting.
• Hybrids (ADIPEC above all, and the World Utilities Congress) run a large exhibition and a paid strategic conference side by side. A visitor badge gets you the floor. The conference programmes need a delegate pass.

Themes overlap, so read the agenda tracks and exhibitor list before you decide.

Most UAE energy exhibitions are free for industry professionals who register in advance. Paid access is usually limited to strategic conference programmes and closed summits.

Book hotels early for mid-January, when ADSW and the World Future Energy Summit share ADNEC Centre.

Start from the people you need to meet, then pick the event where they show up in numbers. Four checks help:

1. Match the buyer. National oil and gas companies and their contractors gather at ADIPEC. Utilities come to WETEX in October and the World Utilities Congress in May. Clean-energy developers, investors and governments come to Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week and the World Future Energy Summit.
2. Check for project-level participation. For suppliers and investors, the best signal is asset owners, developers and procurement teams with active projects on the exhibitor or speaker list.
3. Use co-located weeks. WETEX and the World Green Economy Summit share DWTC in October. ADSW and the World Future Energy Summit share ADNEC in January. One trip covers two audiences.
4. Confirm your badge. Check which halls and programmes your pass includes before you book travel.
