Business events in Abu Dhabi: what is worth attending in 2026–27

Abu Dhabi's business event season runs from October to May, and its core is a ten-week run from early November to late January. Four of the city's largest events fall in that window: ADIPEC 2026 in November, Abu Dhabi Finance Week 2026 in December, and Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2027 and IDEX & NAVDEX 2027 in January 2027.

Abu Dhabi's calendar is shorter than Dubai's, but its flagship events are larger and more concentrated. Energy, finance, sustainability and defence dominate. Consumer technology, retail and most general trade fairs sit in Dubai instead, which is covered in the Dubai business events guide.

The table lists the 2026–27 editions as published by their organizers. June to August is quiet, as it is across the Gulf. The live list, with anything added since, is on the Abu Dhabi events page.

Pick by sector first. Abu Dhabi's big events are each the main meeting point for one industry, so the right one is usually obvious once you know your field.

Energy: ADIPEC

ADIPEC 2026 runs 2–5 November 2026 at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. It combines a large exhibition with 13 conference programmes. Its site cites more than 2,250 exhibiting companies and 1,800 conference speakers, figures that match the 2025 edition. It suits oil and gas operators, service companies, energy-technology suppliers and investors. Visitors register online through the ADIPEC site before the show.

Finance and investment: Abu Dhabi Finance Week

Abu Dhabi Finance Week 2026 runs 7–10 December 2026 around ADGM Square on Al Maryah Island, the home of the Abu Dhabi Global Market financial centre. It is a week of linked events, including Asset Abu Dhabi, Fintech Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Sustainable Finance Forum and RESOLVE on dispute resolution. The organizer reports 35,000 participants, 800-plus speakers and 394 sessions for the 2025 edition. It is ticketed, and it suits asset managers, allocators, fund founders, bankers and fintech teams.

Sustainability and clean energy: ADSW and WFES

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2027 runs 10–14 January 2027 and is hosted by Masdar, which has run the week since 2008. The 2027 theme is "Securing Systems. Sustaining Growth." The week opens with the IRENA Assembly (10–11 January) and includes the ADSW Summit (12–13 January), the Zayed Sustainability Prize ceremony and Investor Connect. Masdar reports more than 60,000 attendees for 2026.

World Future Energy Summit 2027 is the trade exhibition inside that week, 12–14 January 2027 at ADNEC. It covers clean energy, water, sustainable cities, circular economy and green finance. Go to WFES for suppliers and projects, and to the ADSW Summit for policy and investment.

Defence: IDEX and NAVDEX

IDEX & NAVDEX 2027 runs 25–29 January 2027 at ADNEC. IDEX covers land, air and CBRNE defence, and NAVDEX covers naval and maritime security. The 2025 edition reported 206,000 visitors, 1,565 exhibitors and 65 countries. It is an industry event for armed forces, procurement officials and defence manufacturers, with visitor registration online.

Smaller summits

Hotel-based summits fill the gaps. Forbes Middle East Sustainability Leaders Summit 2026 (19–20 October 2026) gathers government and business leaders under the patronage of the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment. The GCC GOV HR & Youth Summit 2026 (20–21 October 2026, its 14th edition) is for public-sector HR and youth-development leaders. Most large business events in Abu Dhabi happen at one venue, ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. That makes planning simpler than in cities with several big venues: once you know the event is at ADNEC, you can book a hotel nearby.

ADNEC hosts ADSW and WFES in the same week, which means the whole sustainability week can be done from one hotel. During ADIPEC and IDEX, the hotels closest to ADNEC fill early and cost more, so book as soon as your dates are fixed. Al Maryah Island is a separate district, closer to the downtown towers, so ADFW visitors often stay there instead.

Check your visa status first, then book your hotel and register for your badge.

• Visa. Many nationalities can enter the UAE visa-free or get a visa on arrival. Everyone else needs a tourist visa before travel. The official UAE government portal, u.ae, says these can be arranged through airlines such as Etihad and Emirates, licensed travel agents or hotels, or directly with the federal immigration authority. UAE embassies do not issue tourist visas. If you are exhibiting or working at a show, ask the organizer which visa it recommends.
• Arrival. Zayed International Airport (AUH) is the city's airport. Many international visitors also fly into Dubai and drive down, which is worth pricing if your airline has better connections there.
• Badges. Register online before you arrive. The large exhibitions (ADIPEC, WFES, IDEX) run online visitor registration for industry professionals. Summits and conference programmes, including ADFW and the Forbes summit, sell delegate passes. Check the ticket link on each atndr listing.
• Timing. Check each day's opening hours on the event site before planning meetings. IDEX, for example, opens 9am to 5pm daily, and multi-day weeks such as ADSW put different forums on different days.

Treat the flagship weeks as programmes, not single events. ADSW and ADFW are each made up of many linked forums, and the useful rooms are often the smaller ones.

1. Map the week before you book. ADSW spans five days, but its summit is on two of them and its investor sessions on the last. Choose the days that fit your goal.
2. Book meetings early. The large shows open their meeting tools and apps a few weeks before the doors open, and senior attendees fill their diaries fast.
3. Pair Abu Dhabi with Dubai. The two cities are close enough to combine. Compare both city calendars before fixing flights.
4. Register with a work email. Trade visitor passes are meant for industry professionals, and defence shows in particular check who registers.
5. Dress for business. Business attire is standard at conferences and exhibitions, and ministers attend many of the opening sessions.
6. Follow up the same week. A short note that names the conversation gets a reply; a generic one gets lost.
