About this event

The East African Petroleum Conference and Exhibition (EAPCE) has been organised by the East African Community every two years since 2003 and is the region's main platform for promoting petroleum investment. The 12th edition comes to Kigali under the theme "Unlocking the Hydrocarbon Potential of East Africa Rift Basins", with more than 1,500 delegates expected.

Conference topics

Technical presentations and panels are organised into six themes covering the full petroleum value chain and the region's wider energy mix.

Exploration and production in the East Africa rift basins
Fiscal and legal regimes, EPSA models and regulatory frameworks
Midstream infrastructure, pipelines, refineries and storage
Investment opportunities and the role of the regional private sector
Energy mix and integration: renewables, clean cooking, e-mobility and critical minerals
Cross-cutting issues: revenue management, PPPs, local content and digitalisation

Who attends

Ministries and regulators from the EAC Partner States, national and international oil companies, investors and financial institutions, development partners, service and technology companies, researchers and academia, and the media.

Exhibition and field excursions

An exhibition runs alongside the conference, and EAPCE is known for its field excursions to petroleum, energy and geological sites in the host country, held before and after the conference. A pre-conference workshop takes place on 8 March 2027.
