4th Kuwait Obesity Conference 2026

The Kuwait Obesity Conference brings Kuwait's bariatric surgeons and obesity physicians together with international experts for its fourth edition. The first day is devoted to surgery and the second to medical management, reflecting how obesity care in the Gulf now combines operations with a fast-growing range of drug therapies.

Day one: surgical

Technical sessions and video case reviews on bariatric and metabolic surgery.

• Staple-line leaks and hiatal hernia repair

Day two: medical

Obesity as a chronic disease and the new generation of anti-obesity medicines.

• The obesity burden in Kuwait and the GCC
• Incretin therapies and new obesity drugs
• Diabetes remission
• Complications such as sleep apnoea and MASLD
• GLP-1 agonists and peri-operative management
• Building an obesity medicine service in Kuwait

Faculty and support

The conference is chaired by Dr. Shehab Abdullah Akrouf, with an organising committee led by Dr. Mohammad Jamal. International faculty include Prof. Carel le Roux, Prof. Donna Ryan and Dr. Carlos Abril. Supporting bodies listed by the organisers include the Kuwait Obesity Association, the Kuwait Association of Surgeons, Dasman Diabetes Institute, Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital surgery and the Ministry of Health.
