When is the business event season in Hong Kong?
Hong Kong's trade fair year has two peaks: late October to mid-November, and January to April. The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) schedules its sourcing fairs in pairs or clusters, so one trip often covers several related shows.
The HKCEC also hosts privately organised sourcing shows, such as the Mega Show (Part 1 on 20–23 October and Part 2 on 27–29 October 2026). Confirm dates on the organizer's site before you travel. The full, live list is on the Hong Kong events page.
Which Hong Kong business events are worth attending?
Choose by what you buy or sell. Hong Kong is above all a sourcing city: most of its fairs connect manufacturers from Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and the wider region with international importers and retailers.
Finance, fintech and digital assets
Hong Kong FinTech Week x StartmeupHK 2026 is the government's flagship finance and startup week. The main conference and exhibition are at the HKCEC on 2–3 November 2026, with community events through 6 November and a Shenzhen day on 4 November. The organizer expects 45,000+ participants and 1,000+ speakers. Consensus Hong Kong 2027, CoinDesk's Asian conference, follows on 1–3 February 2027 at the HKCEC; CoinDesk expects 10,000 attendees.
Beauty
Cosmoprof Asia 2026 splits across both venues: Cosmopack Asia (supply chain, packaging, OEM) at AsiaWorld-Expo on 10–12 November, and Cosmoprof Asia (finished products) at the HKCEC on 11–13 November 2026. For 2026 the organizer expects more than 2,900 exhibitors and over 78,000 visitors.
Toys, jewellery, gifts and watches
The January toy week brings the HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair 2027 together with the baby products and stationery fairs; the 2026 toy fair had 1,815 exhibitors and 41,215 buyers. In March, the HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show 2027 (finished jewellery, HKCEC) runs alongside the Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show (raw materials, AsiaWorld-Expo); verified buyers can visit both with one registration. The Gifts & Premium Fair (April) and Watch & Clock Fair (September) complete the consumer-goods calendar.
Electronics, lighting and green technology
The HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) 2027 and InnoEX 2027 run together on 13–16 April 2027. Lighting has spring and autumn editions, and Eco Expo Asia 2026 (26–29 October 2026, AsiaWorld-Expo) covers waste management, the circular economy and green transport.
Food and drink
The HKTDC Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair 2026 runs 5–7 November 2026 at the HKCEC, with the last day open to the public. HKTDC's Food Expo is held each August; the 2026 edition opened on 13 August.
Where are business events held in Hong Kong?
Two venues host nearly all of Hong Kong's trade fairs. Check which one your fair uses, because AsiaWorld-Expo is by the airport and the HKCEC is in the city centre and some events, such as Cosmoprof Asia and the March jewellery week, use both.
| Venue | Area | What it hosts | Getting there |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), 1 Expo Drive / 1 Harbour Road | Wan Chai, Hong Kong Island | Most HKTDC fairs, FinTech Week, Consensus, Cosmoprof Asia (finished products) | About 10 minutes' walk from MTR Exhibition Centre or Wan Chai station |
| AsiaWorld-Expo | Next to Hong Kong International Airport, Lantau | Eco Expo Asia, the Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, Cosmopack Asia | Its own Airport Express station; about 28 minutes from Hong Kong Station (HK$85) and 25 from Kowloon (HK$78) |
AsiaWorld-Expo's station is one stop from the airport, which makes it easy to fly in for a single day. Its round-trip fare offer requires using the same Octopus card, eligible bank card or QR code both ways and staying at least one hour. The HKCEC is on the Wan Chai waterfront in the city centre, within walking distance of MTR stations and hotels.
Getting there: visas and entry
Many nationalities can visit Hong Kong without a visa, for periods set by the Immigration Department. According to its table, British citizens get 180 days; nationals of the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and most EU countries get 90 days; nationals of the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan and others get 30 days; and Indian nationals get 14 days after completing online pre-arrival registration. Some nationalities need a visa in advance.
Visitors may not take up employment or establish or join a business while in Hong Kong. The Immigration Department page does not address trade fairs specifically, so if you will do more than visit, buy and attend meetings, check with the department or a Chinese diplomatic mission before you travel.
Practical points:
- Bring your passport to the fair. HKTDC jewellery shows require an original passport or Hong Kong Identity Card to verify buyer badges.
- Weather. HKTDC publishes adverse-weather arrangements for its fairs; check them if a typhoon or rainstorm warning is in force.
- Getting around. The MTR and Airport Express connect both venues, the airport and the main hotel districts.
How to make the most of a Hong Kong trade fair
Pre-register online. HKTDC fairs are free for trade visitors aged 18 or over who register in advance and enter with an e-Badge in the HKTDC Marketplace App; walk-in registration costs HK$100 per person.
- Use Click2Match. HKTDC's online matching platform opens before each fair and stays open after it. For the 2027 toy fair it runs 4–21 January, so you can set up meetings before you fly.
- Group fairs into one trip. HKTDC pairs related shows: toys, baby products and stationery in January; jewellery and gems in March; electronics and InnoEX in April.
- Know the public days. Some fairs, including the Wine & Spirits Fair and Eco Expo Asia, open to the public on the last day. Buyers usually come earlier.
- Budget for conferences. FinTech Week passes run from US$219 (Startup) and US$499 (General) to US$2,299 (Executive). Consensus Hong Kong starts at US$599 before 13 November.
- Consider the Greater Bay Area. FinTech Week 2026 holds a Shenzhen day on 4 November; allow extra days if you plan to meet suppliers across the border.
