Business events in Stuttgart 2026–27: the trade fairs worth attending

Stuttgart's 2026–27 trade fairs month by month: LogiMAT, R+T, The Battery Show Europe, Control, Blechexpo, and how to reach Messe Stuttgart.

By the atndr teamPublished 7 min read

The short answer

Stuttgart's business events are trade fairs at Messe Stuttgart, next to the airport, led by LogiMAT (intralogistics, 16–18 March 2027), R+T (shutters, doors and sun shading, 15–19 February 2027), Control (quality assurance, 11–14 May 2027), The Battery Show Europe (22–24 June 2027) and Blechexpo (sheet metal, 26–29 October 2027). The season runs October to June, with industrial engineering, energy and the trades dominating. Most fairs are trade-only; several specialist expos are free with registration.

Key takeaways

  • Almost every Stuttgart trade fair takes place at Messe Stuttgart, beside Stuttgart Airport; conferences use the ICS congress centre on the same site.
  • The busiest months are March and May 2027: LogiMAT, eltefa, Volta-X, hy-fcell, TecStyle Visions and wetec in March, Control and Moulding Expo in May.
  • The calendar leans to industrial engineering: logistics, quality assurance, sheet metal, fasteners, batteries, hydrogen and electrical engineering.
  • S-Bahn lines S2 and S3 run from Stuttgart main station to the Airport/Messe stop in 27 minutes; the entrance is about 200 metres away.
  • Several shows are free with registration, including Foam Expo Europe, Adhesives & Bonding Expo Europe, Vehicle Tech Week Europe and the Power Transmission & Distribution Technology Expo.

Which Stuttgart trade fairs are the most important?

The best-known Stuttgart fairs are international leaders in narrow industrial fields rather than broad shows. Pick by what you buy or sell.

Logistics and warehousing

LogiMAT 2027 runs 16–18 March 2027 and is Europe's largest annual intralogistics show: material handling, warehouse automation, forklifts and software. Its 2026 edition reported 1,671 exhibitors from 46 countries and 69,856 visitors. Show hours are 9:00 to 17:00.

Building envelope

R+T 2027 (15–19 February 2027) is the world trade fair for roller shutters, doors and gates and sun shading, held every three years. The 2024 edition had 1,017 exhibitors and 61,155 visitors across 10 halls. It is aimed at sun shading specialists, metal and window builders and architects.

Metalworking and quality assurance

Control 2027 (11–14 May 2027, the 38th edition) covers metrology, testing and inspection; its 2025 edition had about 500 exhibitors. Blechexpo 2027 (26–29 October 2027) covers sheet metal forming, cutting and joining, with Schweisstec for welding running alongside; the 2025 edition filled nine halls with 1,190 exhibitors. Fastener Fair Global 2027 (6–8 April) and Moulding Expo 2027 (11–12 May, toolmaking and mould making) complete the metal calendar, with parts2clean 2027 for industrial parts cleaning in October.

Batteries, energy and hydrogen

The Battery Show Europe 2027 (22–24 June 2027) is for battery and electric vehicle engineers and their suppliers; the 2026 edition reported 17,347 attendees and more than 1,100 suppliers. In March, eltefa 2027 (electrical engineering), Volta-X 2027 (energy storage and management) and hy-fcell 2027 (hydrogen and fuel cells) overlap, so one trip covers all three.

Trades, health and communication

südback 2026 (bakery) and SÜFFA 2026 (butchery) serve the food trades. medizin 2027 and therapro 2027 share late January for medical practices and therapists. The tekom Annual Conference 2026 is the main meeting of technical writers and localisation teams.

Where are business events held in Stuttgart?

Nearly all of them take place on one site: Messe Stuttgart, the exhibition centre beside Stuttgart Airport, south of the city centre. Conferences and congresses use the ICS (Internationales Congresscenter Stuttgart), which is part of the same complex.

Venue Where What it hosts Getting there
Messe Stuttgart (exhibition halls) Next to Stuttgart Airport, Messepiazza 1 Trade fairs such as LogiMAT, R+T, Control, Blechexpo, The Battery Show Europe S2/S3 to Airport/Messe, U6 to Messepiazza
ICS – Internationales Congresscenter Stuttgart On the Messe site Congresses and one-day conferences such as the LBV-Unternehmertag and INNEO's Fachkonferenz Digitalisierung Same stops as the halls

Because the venue sits beside the airport, a visitor can fly in, walk to the halls and fly out the same day. That makes Stuttgart unusually easy for short buying trips compared with fair cities whose grounds are far from the airport.

How do you get to Messe Stuttgart?

The fastest route from the city is the S-Bahn: lines S2 and S3 run directly from Stuttgart main station (Hauptbahnhof) to the Airport/Messe stop in 27 minutes, according to Messe Stuttgart. The stop is about 200 metres, or an eight-minute walk, from the fair entrance.

  • Light rail: line U6 ends at the Messepiazza, about six minutes on foot from Entrance East, with an extra trade fair stop at Entrance West.
  • By air: Stuttgart Airport is next to the fairground. Long-distance and regional buses stop at the airport bus terminal.
  • Taxis and shuttles: taxi ranks and shuttle drop-offs are in front of the fair entrances and the ICS.
  • Regional travel: the Baden-Württemberg-Ticket covers a day of unlimited regional trains, S-Bahn, trams and buses in the state for one person or a group of up to five.

Some tickets include local transport. SÜFFA's day ticket, for example, includes a VVS public transport ticket. Check each fair's ticket page before buying a separate fare.

Germany is in the Schengen area. Visitors who need a visa should apply early and use the organiser's invitation letter or exhibitor confirmation if the fair offers one. Hotels near the airport fill quickly during large fairs such as LogiMAT and R+T, so many visitors stay in central Stuttgart and take the S-Bahn.

How much do tickets cost and how do you make the most of a visit?

Ticket prices depend on the fair. Specialist expos run by international organisers are often free for trade visitors who register online, while Messe Stuttgart's own fairs usually sell day tickets.

To get more from a visit:

  1. Register online before you travel. Online tickets are usually cheaper than at the door, and many free passes are online only.
  2. Combine overlapping shows. In March, eltefa, Volta-X and hy-fcell share the same days; TecStyle Visions and wetec run together; Control and Moulding Expo overlap in May.
  3. Book meetings ahead. Exhibitor lists go online weeks before each fair; contact the stands you need in advance.
  4. Use the talks. Most fairs run free forums on the show floor, which are a quick way to see what the sector is discussing.
  5. Check the language. Regional fairs such as südback, SÜFFA, medizin and the LBV-Unternehmertag are mostly in German; the international fairs work in English.
