The short answer

Madrid's biggest business events in 2026–27 are the ESMO Congress (oncology, 23–27 October 2026), FITUR (tourism, 20–24 January 2027), Madrid Fusión (gastronomy, 1–3 February 2027) and Salón Gourmets (fine food, 26–29 April 2027). Almost all are held at IFEMA MADRID, about 10 minutes from Barajas airport on Metro Line 8. November and February are the busiest months, with week-long clusters of construction, energy and fashion fairs.

Key takeaways

  • IFEMA MADRID (Avda. del Partenón 5) hosts nearly all of Madrid's large trade fairs and congresses; Metro Line 8 stops opposite its South entrance.
  • FITUR, the tourism trade fair, runs 20–24 January 2027: weekdays are for accredited professionals and the weekend opens to the public.
  • IFEMA groups fairs into weeks: International Construction Week (10–13 November 2026), the Electrification and Decarbonisation Week (24–26 November 2026) and the February fashion and gifts fairs.
  • Most fairs are professional-only; Salón Gourmets admits accredited food and drink trade visitors only, from €60 for a day pass bought online.
  • Spain is in the Schengen Area, so a Schengen visa or visa-free entry covers trips to Madrid fairs.

Which Madrid business events are worth attending?

Madrid's strongest events are in tourism, food, healthcare congresses and construction. Pick the one that matches your sector.

Tourism and travel

FITUR 2027, the International Tourism Trade Fair, holds its 47th edition on 20–24 January 2027 at IFEMA MADRID, adding two halls, with Puerto Rico as Partner Country. Tourism boards, tour operators, hotel chains, airlines and travel technology firms exhibit. FITUR reports 155,000 trade participants and 100,000 general public visitors. Specialist areas include FITUR Cruises, FITUR Sports, FITUR Lingua and the FITURNEXT sustainability observatory.

Food and gastronomy

Madrid Fusión Alimentos de España 2027 celebrates its 25th edition on 1–3 February 2027, expanding into Halls 12 and 14. It is a congress for chefs, restaurateurs, sommeliers and food producers, with parallel programmes on wine, pastry and food technology. 40th Salón Gourmets 2027 (26–29 April 2027, Halls 3 to 7, 66,000 m²) is the trade fair for high-end food and drink, with a hosted buyers programme run with ICEX and Spain's agriculture ministry.

Healthcare congresses

The ESMO Congress 2026, the European Society for Medical Oncology's annual meeting, runs 23–27 October 2026, with an industry exhibition in Hall 8. Full registration is €1,230 for members and €1,840 for non-member industry delegates (21% VAT included), and individual registration stays open during the congress.

Construction, energy and industry

IFEMA's November weeks bundle related fairs. International Construction Week (10–13 November 2026) combines CONSTRUTEC 2026 (materials and building solutions, with BIMEXPO) and VETECO 2026 (windows and façades). The International Electrification and Decarbonisation Week (24–26 November) joins GENERA 2026, Spain's energy fair, with MATELEC 2026; a GENERA pass includes MATELEC and over 120 conference sessions. In spring, REBUILD 2027 covers off-site construction and digitalisation, and MOTORTEC 2027 is southern Europe's automotive aftermarket fair.

Technology and education

Tech Show Madrid 2026 (4–5 November 2026) brings cloud, cybersecurity, AI, data centres and eCommerce together; the organizer reports more than 27,000 visitors and 470 exhibitors. SIMO EDUCACIÓN 2026 (11–13 November) is the education technology fair for school leaders and EdTech firms.

Fashion and gifts

The first week of February 2027 brings MOMAD (fashion and footwear), Bisutex (fashion jewellery and accessories) and Intergift (gifts and decoration) together at IFEMA, so retail buyers can cover all three in one visit.

Where are business events held in Madrid?

IFEMA MADRID is the city's trade fair and congress centre, and every event in this guide's table is held there. It is in the northeast of the city, about 10 minutes from Barajas airport.

Venue Address What it hosts Getting there
IFEMA MADRID Avda. del Partenón 5, 28042 Madrid FITUR, ESMO, Madrid Fusión, Salón Gourmets, MOMAD, construction and energy weeks Metro Line 8 (station exit opposite the South entrance); buses 73, 112, 122 and intercity 828; taxi ranks at South, North and East entrances

Large fairs use specific halls and entrances: Salón Gourmets uses Halls 3 to 7, Madrid Fusión Halls 12 and 14, and ESMO's exhibition is in Hall 8. Check the hall on your badge and use the nearest entrance. Drivers reach IFEMA from the M11, M40 and A2, with parking at the South, North and East entrances.

Getting there and around

Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suárez airport is about 10 minutes from IFEMA. Metro Line 8 (Nuevos Ministerios–Aeropuerto T4) links the airport terminals with the fairground and continues into the city at Nuevos Ministerios, where it connects with Cercanías commuter trains.

  • Metro. Line 8 stops at Aeropuerto T1-T2-T3 and Aeropuerto T4; its fairground station exit faces IFEMA's South entrance.
  • Taxi. Ranks are at every airport terminal and inside the fairground at the South, North and East entrances. A €3 supplement applies for entering or leaving the fairground.
  • Train. From Atocha station (long- and medium-distance trains), take the Metro or Cercanías and change to Line 8.
  • Visas. Spain is in the Schengen Area. Visitors who need a Schengen visa should apply through a Spanish consulate in good time.
  • Accessibility. IFEMA asks visitors with reduced mobility to request assistance at least 48 hours before the event using its online form.

How to make the most of a Madrid fair

Register as a professional and buy online. Most IFEMA fairs are for professionals only and sell passes through an IFEMA MADRID account, and online prices are lower than at the door. Salón Gourmets, for example, charges €60 for a day pass online against €85 on site, and €100 for four days online against €130.

  1. Create your IFEMA MADRID account early. FITUR registration is personal: every visitor needs their own account and professional registration.
  2. Use the clusters. IFEMA groups related fairs into weeks, and one pass often covers several: a GENERA pass includes MATELEC, and February's fashion, jewellery and gift fairs run side by side.
  3. Plan around public days. FITUR's weekend (23–24 January 2027) is open to the general public; trade meetings work best on the weekdays.
  4. Check age rules. Salón Gourmets admits no one under 18, and Madrid Fusión requires under-18s to come with an adult.
  5. Follow online if you can't travel. Madrid Fusión streams its main auditorium and parallel congresses, and ESMO offers a virtual platform alongside the congress.
