The short answer

Germany's most important energy events in 2026–27 are The smarter E Europe with Intersolar (Munich, exhibitions 8–10 June 2027), E-world energy & water (Essen, 16–18 February 2027), ISH for heating and building services (Frankfurt, 15–19 March 2027) and HUSUM WIND (Husum, 14–17 September 2027). Hydrogen, battery, grid and power electronics shows fill the rest of the calendar, mostly in Hamburg, Stuttgart, Nuremberg and Hanover. Almost all are trade-only.

Key takeaways

  • The smarter E Europe in Munich is the largest: four exhibitions (Intersolar, ees, Power2Drive and EM-Power) from 8 to 10 June 2027, with conferences from 7 June.
  • E-world in Essen (16–18 February 2027) is the meeting point for utilities and energy traders; its 2026 edition reported more than 1,100 exhibitors.
  • Hydrogen has its own shows: Hydrogen Technology World Expo in Hamburg (20–22 October 2026, free expo) and hy-fcell in Stuttgart (3–4 March 2027).
  • Building energy is a separate circuit: ISH, eltefa, elektrotechnik, GET NORD and efa:ON serve installers, planners and the electrical trades.
  • Ticket prices range from free (Hydrogen Technology World Expo, the Power Transmission & Distribution Technology Expo) to EUR 85 a day at E-world.

Which energy events in Germany matter most, and who are they for?

The four events with the widest reach are The smarter E Europe, E-world, ISH and HUSUM WIND. Each serves a different part of the energy market, so most professionals need only one or two of them.

Event Dates City Best for
The smarter E Europe 2027 Conferences 7–8 Jun, exhibitions 8–10 Jun 2027 Munich Solar, battery storage, EV charging and energy management
E-world energy & water 2027 16–18 Feb 2027 Essen Utilities, energy traders, grid operators, energy IT
ISH 2027 15–19 Mar 2027 Frankfurt Heating, heat pumps, air conditioning and sanitation
HUSUM WIND 2027 14–17 Sep 2027 Husum Onshore and offshore wind, repowering, green hydrogen
Hydrogen Technology World Expo 2026 20–22 Oct 2026 Hamburg Hydrogen production, storage and fuel cell engineers
PCIM Expo & Conference 2027 11–13 May 2027 Nuremberg Power electronics and inverter engineers
The Battery Show Europe 2027 22–24 Jun 2027 Stuttgart Battery and electric vehicle engineering
The Business Booster 2026 28–29 Oct 2026 Munich Cleantech start-ups and investors

Solar and storage

The smarter E Europe 2027 combines four exhibitions at Messe München: Intersolar Europe for solar, ees Europe for batteries and storage, Power2Drive Europe for charging and e-mobility, and EM-Power Europe for energy management and smart grids. Its conferences run at the ICM on 7–8 June, and the halls open from 8 to 10 June.

Utilities and grids

E-world 2027 is where utilities, municipal suppliers and energy IT vendors meet. Its 2026 edition filled six halls with more than 1,100 exhibitors, a record, and the 2027 edition adds a 'Resilient Infrastructure' area. Grid specialists can add the Power Transmission & Distribution Technology Expo 2027 in Stuttgart in October.

Wind

HUSUM WIND 2027 covers onshore and offshore wind, green hydrogen, storage, repowering and project finance, with extra weight on offshore wind in 2027. More than 600 exhibitors are expected.

Heating and building energy

ISH 2027 is the biennial world fair for heating, air conditioning and water; its 2025 edition drew more than 163,000 professionals from 149 countries. Heat pump specialists also have the English-language European Heat Pump Summit 2027 in Nuremberg.

Trade fair or conference: which format suits you?

In German energy, the trade fair is the main format and the conference is usually attached to it. Go to the fair to compare equipment and suppliers; buy the conference pass only if you need the technical programme.

How much do tickets cost?

Day tickets for German energy fairs cost from nothing to about EUR 85, and conference passes cost far more. Prices below are from each event's atndr listing for the edition shown.

Event Ticket Price
Hydrogen Technology World Expo 2026 Visitor pass (expo and co-located CCUS expo) Free
Power Transmission & Distribution Technology Expo 2027 Visitor registration, qualifying professionals Free
EnergyDecentral 2026 Day ticket EUR 33 online, EUR 45 at the box office
E-world energy & water 2027 Day ticket / permanent ticket EUR 85 / EUR 255, incl. VAT
IMPACT FESTIVAL 2026 IMPACT Pass, early bird EUR 200 net
Hydrogen Technology World Expo 2026 Conference pass, three days EUR 1,985

A few rules hold across most fairs. Online tickets are cheaper than tickets at the door. Students often get in free on the last day; E-world's student ticket is free on the Thursday. Exhibitors send free voucher codes to customers, so ask a supplier before you pay. Many fairs, such as WORLD OF FIREPLACES 2027, admit trade visitors only.

How should you choose an energy event in Germany?

Start from your technology and your role, then check the edition year, because several of these fairs are biennial or less frequent.

  1. Match the technology. Solar and storage: The smarter E Europe. Utilities and energy trading: E-world. Wind: HUSUM WIND. Hydrogen: Hydrogen Technology World Expo or hy-fcell. Heating: ISH. Power electronics: PCIM. Batteries: The Battery Show Europe.
  2. Check the cycle. ISH, eltefa, Volta-X, VALVE WORLD EXPO, KOMMUNALE, HUSUM WIND and the European Heat Pump Summit are biennial; THERMPROCESS is held every four years with GIFA, METEC and NEWCAST. Missing a year can mean a long wait.
  3. Combine trips. In Stuttgart, eltefa, Volta-X and hy-fcell overlap on 2–4 March 2027. In June, The smarter E Europe (Munich), THERMPROCESS (Düsseldorf) and The Battery Show Europe (Stuttgart) fall within three weeks.
  4. Think about language. International fairs such as The smarter E Europe, PCIM and the Hydrogen Technology World Expo work in English. Regional trade fairs for installers and municipalities, such as KOMMUNALE and GET NORD, are mostly in German.
  5. Plan the trip early. Book hotels as soon as your dates are fixed: large fairs fill rooms in the host city, and Husum is a small town on the North Sea coast with fewer hotels than the big fair cities. Germany is in the Schengen area; apply early if you need a visa.
