8th International Marine Conservation Congress (IMCC8)

The International Marine Conservation Congress is the Society for Conservation Biology Global Marine Program's flagship meeting. Its eighth edition, themed Marine Science for the Planet and its Peoples, gathers researchers, conservation practitioners, policymakers, educators, students, journalists and community leaders to identify gaps in marine conservation and turn research into policy and action.

Aims

IMCC8 sets out to take stock of what is and isn't working in ocean conservation.

• Identify critical gaps in marine conservation worldwide
• Learn from conservation successes and failures
• Integrate community knowledge and interdisciplinary science into policy and governance
• Catalyse action and solutions for the ocean and the people who depend on it

Programme

The congress combines accepted symposia and sessions, contributed abstracts and a poster programme with field trips, special events, a film night and featured programmes. Sponsors and exhibitors are also present at the venue.

Hundreds of marine scientists, conservation practitioners, government and NGO policymakers, educators, students, artists and journalists working across research, management, communication and community engagement.
