Healthcare events in the United States 2026–27: congresses, health tech and medtech shows

US healthcare events run all year, but they follow two rhythms: medical society congresses fixed to their specialty's annual cycle, and business, technology and investor conferences concentrated between November and April. July and August have the fewest events.

A few cities carry most of the calendar. Chicago (McCormick Place) hosts the largest clinical meetings, from cardiology to radiology and oncology. Las Vegas hosts HLTH USA, the AAOS orthopaedic meeting and the WVC veterinary conference. Boston has dental, medtech and life-science IT events; San Diego, Anaheim and Miami Beach host laboratory, manufacturing and trade shows.

Start from your role: the same week can hold a congress for physicians and a deal-making conference for executives, and they rarely overlap in audience.

Clinicians and researchers

The specialty congresses are the main stage for new trial results and continuing education. Beyond the table, dental teams have the Greater New York Dental Meeting, Yankee Dental Congress, the Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting and the Hinman Dental Meeting; orthopaedic surgeons have AAOS; laboratory medicine has ADLM.

Executives, investors and health tech

HLTH USA reports 12,250+ attendees and 4,400+ C-suite executives for its 2026 event. The Milken Institute Future of Health Summit (11–13 November 2026, Washington) gathers CEOs and policymakers. ViVE and HIMSS27 are the digital health and health IT meetings of spring.

Medtech, pharma and life-science suppliers

The Informa MD&M and MEDevice shows (MD&M Midwest, MEDevice Silicon Valley, MD&M West, MEDevice Boston, MD&M East) serve device engineers and suppliers. Pharma manufacturing meets at INTERPHEX and CPHI Americas; lab and R&D teams at SLAS2027, Pittcon and Bio-IT World. WHX Miami, formerly FIME, is the trade show for medical products sold into the Americas.

Pick the format by what you need to come back with: clinical knowledge, deals, or suppliers.

• Medical congress (RSNA, AHA, ASCO, ADA): run by a professional society. Sessions are peer-reviewed science and CME/CE credit; there is an exhibit hall, but the programme is the point. Pricing is by profession and membership. Best for clinicians, researchers, medical affairs and companies selling to that specialty.
• Business conference (HLTH, ViVE, HIMSS, Milken, J.P. Morgan): run by a company, association or bank. Content is strategy, policy and technology; value comes from pre-booked meetings. HLTH counted 8,500+ scheduled meetings in 2026. Best for executives, investors, startups and vendors.
• Trade show (MD&M, INTERPHEX, WHX Miami, NACDS Total Store Expo): run by an exhibition company or trade association. The floor is the point: buyers and engineers meet suppliers. Expo passes are often free for qualified visitors. Best for procurement, engineering and distribution teams.

Many events combine formats. RSNA sells an exhibits-only badge, and MD&M West sells a paid MedTech conference on top of its free expo.

Expect to pay about $1,300 to $2,500 for a full pass to a major congress or health-tech conference, and nothing for many supplier trade-show floors if you register early. These are the published rates for the editions listed on atndr:

Prices rise at each deadline, and society members pay less, so membership can pay for itself if you attend more than one meeting a year. HIMSS27 had not published prices when this guide was written. Budget separately for travel and hotels, which the passes do not include.

Use these criteria in order:

1. Audience match. Read the "who attends" section of each listing. A medtech supplier gets more from MD&M or a specialty congress's exhibit hall than from a general health-tech conference.
2. Format. Science and credit point to a congress; meetings with buyers or investors point to HLTH, ViVE, BIO or J.P. Morgan week; sourcing points to a trade show.
3. Timing in your cycle. Product launches line up with your specialty's congress; fundraising lines up with J.P. Morgan week in January and BIO in June.
4. Cost per useful meeting. Book meetings before you go. Events with matchmaking (HLTH's scheduled meetings, ViVE's startup–investor matchmaking) make this easier.
5. Location. If you can attend only one trip, Chicago in spring or autumn covers several large congresses within weeks of each other.
