About this event

The Middle East Medical Assembly (MEMA) is the annual scientific meeting of the American University of Beirut's Faculty of Medicine, a tradition that began with a medical conference in 1911 and became MEMA in 1954. AUB describes it as the largest medical meeting in the region. The 52nd edition is built around the theme "Women's Health Across the Life Course: Redesigning Future Care".

Programme theme

Over four days organised as Rethink, Understand, Prevent and Change, the 52nd MEMA follows women's health from adolescence through reproduction, midlife, menopause and healthy ageing, bringing every specialty that touches it into the same programme.

Who attends

The assembly is aimed at physician specialists, especially in OB-GYN, family medicine, internal medicine, endocrinology, psychiatry, oncology, paediatrics, cardiology, dermatology and plastic surgery, along with residents, fellows, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, researchers, public health professionals and regional health stakeholders. It follows the Lebanese Order of Physicians' Continuing Medical Education guidelines.

Format

Paid hands-on workshops open the assembly on Thursday 22 October, followed by the main scientific sessions, which are free to attend with registration. Sessions take place in the Issam Fares Lecture Hall and the Halim and Aida Daniel Academic and Clinical Center multipurpose rooms on AUB's Beirut campus.
