The short answer
Frankfurt's business calendar runs through Messe Frankfurt and its congress centre Kap Europa. The biggest shows on atndr for 2026–27 are Formnext (17–20 November 2026), Food Ingredients Europe (17–19 November 2026), Heimtextil (12–15 January 2027), Ambiente with Christmasworld and Creativeworld (from 29 January 2027), ISH (15–19 March 2027), IMEX Frankfurt (11–13 May 2027) and ACHEMA (14–18 June 2027). Finance events cluster around EURO FINANCE WEEK (16–20 November 2026).
Key takeaways
- November 2026 is the busiest month: EURO FINANCE WEEK, the Deutsches Eigenkapitalforum, Formnext, Food Ingredients Europe and a run of congresses at Kap Europa all fall within two weeks.
- Almost every large trade fair is on the Messe Frankfurt grounds; mid-sized congresses use Kap Europa next door, and finance conferences use hotels such as the Steigenberger Icon Frankfurter Hof.
- ISH (15–19 March 2027) and ACHEMA (14–18 June 2027) are the two largest technical fairs of 2027; ISH drew more than 163,000 professionals from 149 nations in 2025, according to the organiser.
- Ambiente, Christmasworld and Creativeworld run together from 29 January 2027, and one ticket covers all three fairs.
- Messe Frankfurt is about a 10-minute walk or one U4 stop from Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof, and about 15 minutes by taxi from the airport.
- Many Kap Europa congresses (Tax Technology Conference, DMG-Jahrestagung, Deutscher Mobilitätskongress, FODEWI) are held in German, so check the language before you book.

Which Frankfurt events are worth attending, by industry?
Pick by industry first: Frankfurt hosts a global flagship in several sectors, and each one draws its own buyers.
Finance and capital markets
EURO FINANCE WEEK (16–20 November 2026, Steigenberger Icon Frankfurter Hof) is the city's main finance week. Each day has its own lead conference, and the week closes with the 36th Frankfurt European Banking Congress. The week after, Deutsche Börse's Deutsches Eigenkapitalforum (23–25 November, Steigenberger Airport Hotel) pairs analyst presentations by equity and bond issuers with one-on-one investor meetings. The Tax Technology Conference (10–11 November, Kap Europa) covers AI and automation in the tax function, in German.
Industry, manufacturing and process
Formnext (17–20 November 2026) is the global trade fair for additive manufacturing; the 2025 edition had 804 exhibitors and 38,282 visitors, and 2026 adds a Defence Summit on the opening day. ACHEMA (14–18 June 2027) covers the process and life science industries, from lab equipment to plant engineering, with a scientific congress alongside. EUROBIKE relaunches in 2027 as a three-day, business-only show.
Buildings, interiors and consumer goods
ISH (15–19 March 2027) is the biennial fair for heating, sanitary, air conditioning and water. Heimtextil opens the interiors year in January, and Ambiente is the trade-only fair for tableware, living and gifts, running with Christmasworld (seasonal decorations) and Creativeworld (hobby and craft supplies).
Food, health and pharma
Food Ingredients Europe (17–19 November 2026) is Informa's ingredients show for food and beverage R&D and sourcing. CPHI Frankfurt (9–11 November 2027) returns the European pharma supply chain show to Frankfurt; the organiser expects 62,000 professionals. Medical congresses at Kap Europa include Obesity Days and the DMG-Jahrestagung.
Technology, travel and marketing
IT-Tage packs about 300 sessions into 20 sub-conferences in December. Tech Show Frankfurt combines four co-located shows under one free registration. IMEX Frankfurt is the meetings and incentive travel industry's European trade show, and Routes World 2026 brings airline network planners and airports together; the organiser expects more than 230 airlines. THIS IS MARKETING expects more than 8,000 marketers in 2026, with sessions in German.
Which venues host Frankfurt's business events?
Three types of venue cover almost the whole calendar: the Messe Frankfurt fairground, its congress centre Kap Europa, and a handful of business hotels.
| Venue | What it hosts | Examples on atndr |
|---|---|---|
| Messe Frankfurt (exhibition grounds, Ludwig-Erhard-Anlage) | Large international trade fairs, plus conferences in its Congress Center, Forum and Festhalle | Formnext, Heimtextil, Ambiente, ISH, IMEX, ACHEMA |
| Kap Europa (Messe Frankfurt's congress centre, Europaviertel) | Congresses for a few hundred to a few thousand people | Tax Technology Conference, Deutscher Mobilitätskongress, FODEWI, GLCI Kongress, IT-Tage |
| Steigenberger Icon Frankfurter Hof | Finance conferences in the city centre | EURO FINANCE WEEK |
| Steigenberger Airport Hotel | Capital markets conferences near the airport | Deutsches Eigenkapitalforum |
The fairground has several entrances: City, Galleria, Portalhaus, Torhaus (next to the Frankfurt (Main) Messe S-Bahn station) and Europa-Allee, which is the most convenient for hotels south of the grounds. Your ticket or exhibitor manual usually tells you which entrance serves your halls.
How do you get to Messe Frankfurt, and where should you stay?
The fairground is in the city, close to the main station, so most visitors arrive by train or on foot.
- From the airport: take the S-Bahn S8 or S9 to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof, then the S3, S4, S5 or S6 to Frankfurt (Main) Messe. By car or taxi the journey takes about 15 minutes. During many fairs a shuttle bus runs from the terminals; check your event's travel page.
- From Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof: it is about a 10-minute walk. Alternatively take U-Bahn U4 one stop to Festhalle/Messe, tram 16 or 17 three stops, or the S-Bahn two stops to Frankfurt (Main) Messe.
- Where to stay: hotels in the Europaviertel and south of the grounds are walkable to the Europa-Allee entrance; the area around the main station is one stop away. For capital markets events at the airport, stay at or near the airport.
Book accommodation as soon as you commit to a big fair. Hotel prices rise during the largest shows, and weeks such as mid-November, when several large events overlap, fill quickly.
How do you make the most of a Frankfurt trade fair?
Register online in advance, plan meetings before you arrive, and use the co-located shows.
- Buy tickets early. Most fairs sell cheaper online tickets; Formnext's early-bird rates, for example, run until 22 October 2026.
- Check if the fair is trade-only. Ambiente, Christmasworld and Creativeworld are for trade buyers; EUROBIKE 2027 is business-only for all three days.
- Combine co-located events. One ticket covers Ambiente, Christmasworld and Creativeworld; one registration covers the four shows of Tech Show Frankfurt.
- Use the meeting programmes. IMEX and Routes World run pre-scheduled appointments, and IMEX has hosted-buyer places with travel and accommodation covered for qualifying planners.
- Check the language. International fairs run in English and German, but many Kap Europa congresses are German-only.
- Plan the walk. The grounds are large; check which halls your targets are in and which entrance is closest.
