Which Barcelona events are worth attending, by industry?

Barcelona hosts the global flagship in several sectors, so the right event depends mostly on your industry.

Technology and telecoms

MWC Barcelona (1–4 March 2027) is the GSMA's mobile and connectivity show; its 2026 edition counted more than 105,000 attendees and 2,900 exhibitors, sponsors and partners from 207 countries and territories. 4YFN, MWC's start-up platform, runs the same four days with its own stage and exhibition. ISE (2–5 February 2027) is the professional audiovisual and systems integration show; ISE 2026 reported more than 1,751 exhibitors. KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe (15–18 March 2027) is the Cloud Native Computing Foundation's European conference for Kubernetes and cloud-native engineers.

Cities, housing and construction

Smart City Expo World Congress (3–5 November 2026) is the global event for city governments and urban technology, held in Barcelona since 2011; the organiser expects more than 27,000 attendees in 2026. HOWS Barcelona, promoted by Barcelona City Council, runs inside it on housing affordability. Barcelona Building Construmat (18–20 May 2027) is Fira de Barcelona's construction fair, and Piscina Barcelona covers pools and wellness.

Business events and travel

IBTM World (17–19 November 2026) is RX's global meeting place for the business events industry, with more than 2,500 exhibiting destinations, hotels, venues and suppliers. Qualified planners can book pre-scheduled supplier meetings, and eligible hosted buyers have their trip covered.

Food and drink

Seafood Expo Global (20–22 April 2027) is the world's largest seafood trade event; the 2026 edition had 2,290 exhibiting companies and more than 35,500 attendees. Barcelona Wine Week focuses on quality Spanish wine, Gastronomic Forum Barcelona on foodservice and hospitality, and Vitafoods Europe on nutraceuticals.

Industry, packaging and retail

Advanced Factories covers automation, robotics and Industry 4.0 with more than 770 exhibiting companies in 2027. Hispack and Graphispag share Gran Via for packaging and printing. in-cosmetics Global connects personal care ingredient suppliers with formulators. Shoptalk Europe gathers more than 4,500 retail and brand executives, and ICE Barcelona, which moved from London in 2025, is the gaming industry's B2B show.

Which venues host Barcelona's business events?

Fira de Barcelona runs both of the city's main exhibition venues, and Gran Via hosts all of the largest shows.

Venue What it hosts Examples on atndr
Fira Barcelona Gran Via (Av. Joan Carles I, 64, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat) Large international trade fairs and congresses MWC, ISE, Smart City Expo, IBTM World, KubeCon, Seafood Expo Global, Construmat
Fira Barcelona Montjuïc Mid-sized fairs and congresses Barcelona Wine Week, EdTech Congress Barcelona, Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week

Gran Via is technically in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, the municipality bordering Barcelona. Check which venue your event uses before booking a hotel: the two sites are separate, and event pages on atndr list the venue for each edition.

How do you get to Fira Barcelona Gran Via?

The quickest route from the airport is metro line L9 Sud, which links both terminals directly with the venue.

  • Metro L9 Sud: get off at Fira or Europa/Fira. Both stations serve the Gran Via venue and connect with both terminals of Barcelona Airport. The metro runs daily from about 5 a.m. to midnight, with uninterrupted service at weekends.
  • FGC trains: lines S8, S33, R6, R5 and S4 all stop at Europa/Fira.
  • Bus: lines H12, V1, 79, 65, 46, V3 and H16 stop near the venue.
  • Taxi: the venue has taxi ranks.

During MWC week and other very large shows, transport and hotels are under heavy demand. Book accommodation early, allow extra time for the metro at opening and closing hours, and check the event's own practical information page for any special services.

How do you make the most of a Barcelona trade fair?

Plan around the big weeks, combine co-located shows and use the meeting programmes.

  1. Pick the right week. MWC week (early March) and the November block of Smart City Expo and IBTM World are the busiest; arriving a day early helps.
  2. Combine events. 4YFN runs alongside MWC; HOWS runs inside Smart City Expo; Hispack and Graphispag share free visitor access; Construmat and Vitafoods Europe overlap on 18–20 May 2027.
  3. Use hosted-buyer and matchmaking programmes. IBTM World and Barcelona Wine Week are built around pre-arranged business meetings.
  4. Check who the event is for. Most shows here are trade-only and ask for professional registration; register online in advance.
  5. Budget for passes. Prices vary widely. For Smart City Expo 2026 a three-day Visitor Pass is EUR 200 (EUR 175 before 30 September) and a Full Congress Pass EUR 1,250; an IBTM World visitor pass starts at EUR 100 plus VAT; a one-day Barcelona Wine Week visitor ticket is EUR 40.
