Dubai vs Riyadh for business events: which should you attend in 2026–27?

Dubai has more business events and more trade exhibitions. Riyadh has fewer, but it hosts several of the region's flagship forums and large shows in technology, investment, real estate and energy. Both cities run the same season, October to May, so the choice usually comes down to your industry and the format you want.

The table compares the two cities on the points that decide most trips. Event counts are the upcoming business events listed on atndr as of late September 2026.

Several industries have a show in each city, often from the same organizer. Intersec runs in both (Messe Frankfurt Middle East), and so does Big 5 (dmg events). In those cases, pick the city where your buyers or clients are.

Dubai is the stronger choice if you want a large trade exhibition floor. Most sectors have one fixture there that sets the year, and smaller shows run alongside it in the same halls.

What the calendar looks like. October and November 2026 carry the most events on atndr's Dubai calendar. January 2027 is the next peak, with Intersec Global 2027, AEEDC Dubai 2027 and World Health Expo (WHX) Dubai 2027.

The anchor events. GITEX Global 2026 is the city's largest technology event. The GITEX Summit takes 7 December, and the exhibition runs 8–11 December at Expo City Dubai. World Health Expo (WHX) Dubai 2027, the show formerly called Arab Health, uses both main venues in 2027. Gulfood 2027 runs 15–19 March 2027 across Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and Dubai Exhibition Centre.

Co-location. Dubai groups shows into the same week, so one badge day can cover several sectors. On 3–5 November 2026, GulfHost 2026 and Gulfood Manufacturing 2026 share DWTC.

Venues and getting around. Most shows run at DWTC in central Dubai. The largest use Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City, which is in a different part of the city. When a show splits across both, plan time to travel between them.

Entry. Visit Dubai, the city's official tourism site, says citizens of more than 80 countries can get a visa on arrival. Others apply online before travelling.

Riyadh is the stronger choice if your industry's anchor event is there, or if you are doing business in Saudi Arabia itself. It lists about half as many events as Dubai on atndr, but several of the biggest names in the region are held there.

What the calendar looks like. October to December 2026 is the busiest stretch, with FII10, Global Health Exhibition 2026, Cityscape Global 2026, Intersec Saudi Arabia 2026, Saudi Food Expo 2026 and Black Hat MEA 2026. January to May carries fewer events, but it includes Future Minerals Forum 2027 in January and the two largest events of the season in April: LEAP 2027 and the World Energy Congress 2027.

The anchor events. LEAP 2027 runs 12–15 April 2027 at RECC Malham, according to its official site. It is Riyadh's largest technology event. FII10 runs 26–29 October 2026 at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center (KAICC). Attendance is mainly through FII Institute membership, so it is not open registration. Cityscape Global 2026 (real estate, 16–19 November 2026) and Black Hat MEA 2026 (cybersecurity, 1–3 December 2026) are both at Malham. The World Energy Congress 2027 runs 26–29 April 2027 at Riyadh Front.

Formats. More of Riyadh's headline events are forums with a delegate programme. Expect paid passes or membership at the forums and free trade-visitor passes at most exhibitions.

Venues and getting around. The four main venues are Malham (the Riyadh Exhibition & Convention Centre), Riyadh Front, KAICC and RICEC. They are spread out, and Malham sits outside the centre, so book a hotel near your venue.

Entry. Saudi Arabia's tourist eVisa is open to citizens of 68 eligible countries through the official portal. It is a one-year, multiple-entry visa that allows stays of up to 90 days, and events are among the permitted activities.

Most industries have an event in both cities. The question is which one your buyers and peers attend.

Choose by what you need from the trip, not by the city's reputation.

• You want to meet the most suppliers in one visit. Choose Dubai. Its co-located trade shows at DWTC put several sectors under one roof in the same week.
• You are entering the Saudi market. Choose Riyadh. Its trade fairs and forums, such as Cityscape Global 2026 and LEAP 2027, are held where your Saudi clients are.
• You are raising capital or meeting investors. FII10 in Riyadh admits mainly through FII Institute membership. AIM Congress 2027 in Dubai is easier to register for.
• You work in technology. Go to both if budget allows: GITEX Global 2026 in December 2026 and LEAP 2027 in April 2027 are four months apart. Security teams can pair Black Hat MEA 2026 (1–3 December) with GITEX the following week.
• You work in healthcare. Global Health Exhibition 2026 in Riyadh (October 2026) and World Health Expo (WHX) Dubai 2027 in Dubai (January 2027) do not overlap, so you can attend both.
• You work in food. Its organizer calls Dubai's Gulfood 2027 the world's largest annual food and beverage sourcing event. Saudi Food Expo 2026 is the Saudi market's own show.

Combining the two. Direct flights link the cities, so a two-city trip works when dates line up. Watch for clashes: in January 2027, Intersec Global 2027 in Dubai and Future Minerals Forum 2027 in Riyadh both run on 12–14 January.
