Riyadh has moved from a city you visited for meetings to one you visit for events. The calendar is now dense enough that the useful question is not "is there anything on" but "which of these is worth the trip".
What the calendar looks like
The year is anchored by a small number of very large technology and investment events that draw international audiences, and filled out by sector trade exhibitions — construction, energy, healthcare, manufacturing, hospitality — plus a steady stream of professional workshops and smaller industry summits. Most of the large events run at the major exhibition and convention venues in and around the city.
When the season runs
Activity concentrates from late autumn through spring. That is when the weather supports large formats and when the venues are effectively fully booked. The summer months are noticeably quieter, and what does run then is more often indoor, smaller or online. If you are planning one trip, aim for the winter window.
Which industries are strongest
Technology and investment have the largest flagship events. Construction and infrastructure, energy, healthcare and manufacturing all have established annual exhibitions. Finance and professional services show up more as summits and conference tracks than as exhibition floors.
Before you book
