When are the food and beverage trade fairs in Germany?

Germany's food and beverage trade fair calendar has two peaks. January to March is the main season, with the big international shows for snacks, fresh produce, organic food, food technology, wine and hospitality. The fairs are spread across nine cities, each tied to its exhibition company: Cologne (Koelnmesse), Nuremberg (NürnbergMesse), Düsseldorf, Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Hanover and Munich.

The headline fairs

Anuga 2027 is the largest: held every two years at Koelnmesse, it splits into 10 trade shows, from Anuga Meat and Anuga Dairy to Anuga Drinks and Anuga Alternatives. Anuga reports 8,000+ exhibitors from 110 countries and more than 145,000 visitors from 190 countries. ProWein 2027 draws visitors from more than 140 countries to Messe Düsseldorf. FRUIT LOGISTICA 2027 covers fresh produce from seed to point of sale, and BIOFACH 2027, the organic sector's meeting place in Nuremberg since 1990, runs alongside the BIOFACH Congress.

Specialist fairs

ISM 2027 becomes a trio in 2027: ISM Ingredients, ISM Manufacturing (formerly ProSweets Cologne) and ISM Snacks & Sweets. INTERNORGA 2027 holds its 100th edition. iba 2027 reports more than 1,100 exhibitors from 45 countries. Regional trade shows serve artisans: südback 2026 for bakers and confectioners, SÜFFA 2026 for butchers, HOGA 2027 for hospitality and BioWest 2027, a one-day organic fair. Upstream, EuroTier 2026 covers livestock farming and World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo 2027 serves airline and rail catering buyers.

Which fair should you attend for what you are buying?

Decide whether you are buying finished products, ingredients or equipment, then pick the fair built for that.

  • Buying finished food and drink for retail or foodservice: go to Anuga in odd years, and to the category fairs every year: ISM for snacks, FRUIT LOGISTICA for produce, BIOFACH for organic, ProWein for wine and spirits.
  • Buying ingredients: Food Ingredients Europe 2026 in Frankfurt and the ISM Ingredients section in Cologne.
  • Buying machinery and packaging: Anuga FoodTec 2027 for processing, filling and packaging; BrauBeviale 2026 for beverage lines; iba 2027 and südback 2026 for bakery equipment.
  • Running a restaurant, hotel or catering business: INTERNORGA 2027 in Hamburg is the large international show; HOGA 2027 in Nuremberg, which its organizer counts among the three most important German hospitality fairs, is the regional alternative.
  • Supplying airlines and rail: World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo 2027 in Hamburg, where one badge also covers the co-located Aircraft Interiors Expo.

How much do tickets cost and who can get in?

Almost all German food and beverage fairs are trade-only. You must prove you work in the industry, with a business card, trade registration or employer letter. BIOFACH, for example, admits no private visitors on any day. Buy tickets online in advance: it is cheaper, and some shows sell no tickets at the venue.

Fair Ticket prices as listed
ISM 2027 Day EUR 92; season EUR 113; includes VRS public transport
ProWein 2027 Day EUR 50 online, EUR 60 on site; season EUR 80 online, EUR 90 on site
BrauBeviale 2026 Day EUR 48; season EUR 78 (box office, incl. VAT)
EuroTier 2026 Day EUR 33 online, EUR 45 at the box office; season EUR 78 online
SÜFFA 2026 Day EUR 38, including a VVS public transport ticket
BioWest 2027 Day EUR 20; online accreditation at least 48 hours ahead

Ingredient shows price differently: Food Ingredients Europe 2026 sells tiered passes (Standard, Priority, Premium and Supplier) that rise in price closer to the show.

Three ways to save:

  1. Ask for an exhibitor voucher. Suppliers often send free ticket codes to their customers.
  2. Use the included transport. ISM, Anuga and BIOFACH tickets include local public transport during the fair.
  3. Buy the season ticket if you need more than one day: at ISM it costs EUR 21 more than a day ticket.

How do you choose the right German food fair?

Use these checks before you book a German food fair:

  1. Frequency. Anuga is biennial (odd years), so 2027 is an Anuga year. Check whether a fair you want runs in your travel year.
  2. Focus. The broad fairs (Anuga, INTERNORGA) suit generalist buyers; the specialist ones (ISM, ProWein, BIOFACH, FRUIT LOGISTICA) give more depth per hall.
  3. Location. German fair cities are linked by fast trains, so one trip can cover two fairs: ProWein in Düsseldorf ends on 9 March 2027 and INTERNORGA in Hamburg opens on 12 March.
  4. Visa and hotels. Visitors who need a Schengen visa should ask the organizer for an invitation letter early, and book hotels as soon as dates are fixed: big fair weeks fill the host city.
  5. The side programme. BIOFACH runs a congress, BrauBeviale a main stage of keynotes and panels, and INTERNORGA the International Foodservice Forum. Check the programme before choosing your days.
